Luke, thank you for taking the time to share your story. We love to hear from people who visit our site. And we love to hear about others with a passion for Honduras. So was it hot in San Pedro Sula? I've only been there once but I remember it being very hot. I've heard some people call it San Pedro "Sauna."

I think it is awesome you are sponsoring a little girl. Have you met the girl you are sponsoring? We have sponsored a girl for a long time and finally got to meet her on one of our trips. It was an amazing experience.

We will be updating this site and our facebook page regularly with what we are doing. The ministry we will be working with also hosts short term teams so if you wanted to put a group together you could come to Tegucigalpa. Or you can come down on your own, it doesn't have to be with a team. Stay in touch and blessings to you brother - Chad

Sometimes God leads us through what seems to be complete serendipitous acts.

You probably do not know who I am; so let me introduce myself. My name is Luke and I am a college student studying at a small private college in West Central Pennsylvania. I was working on a project for a class called "History and Politics of Latin America." I somehow stumbled along your website and was instantly attached. I have been zooming through your blog for the past hour or two. The weird part is this past summer I was led to go on a mission trip to San Pedro Sula, Honduras this summer. A close friend of mine has gone many times and I had begged her to allow me to go on the next trip they take. So, long story short, I was granted a trip of a lifetime. Through the Western Pennsylvania District Church of the Brethren, I went to an orphanage called "El Hogar de Ninos Emanuel" in SPS. Since then, I have a serious "Heart For Honduras," and have been praying for a chance to go back. I am now sponsoring a little girl. Her name is Sylvia, and despite being a 20-year old college student, Sylvia is like my little daughter.

Now, on top of all of this, I am going to an informational meeting run by our Campus Ministry for Service Trips. In the past, the only international trip taken was to Jamaica. However, there has been a major interest in Honduras lately because multiple students have now taken trips to there. My college is run by the Sisters of Mercy, and we have recently discovered that the Sisters of Mercy own and operate a homeless shelter near San Pedro Sula. So, I am hoping there is a trip there this academic year.

This all may seem completely random, but God led me here and it only felt right to comment. Thank you for sharing your inspirational life! God has an amazing plan for you all! Please keep me updated! All the Blessings - Luke

You both are so special, as much as I am sad about half of my family moving away, I am equally supportive of your going. To be blessed in this life to know your purpose and to have the courage to follow the Holy Spirits leading, is a true blessing. I love you both very much and I will continue to pray that all the details get worked out. Love Mom
